KENNEDY SPACE CENTER'S UNWORLDLY JOURNEY (彭蒙慧英語) 11/24
Today I read KENNEDY SPACE CENTER'S UNWORLDLY JOURNEY (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/24. It is about the comparisons between "Mission: Space" at Walt Disney World and Shuttle Launch Experience. 1. "Mission: Space" is the first high-tech space ride. 2. While "Mission: Space" is one facet of a generalized theme park, Shuttle Launch Experience is a magnet to the enthusiast of the space. 3. Mission Space uses centrifugal force to create the sensation of increased gravity forces. The Shuttle Launch Experience uses the pneumatic deflating device in the seat. After reading the article, I feel a strong respect toward the Kennedy Space Center because they creat such a meaningful device for us to experience what it is like in the space. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER'S UNWORLDLY JOURNEY (彭蒙慧英語) 11/23
Today I read KENNEDY SPACE CENTER'S UNWORLDLY JOURNEY (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/23. It is about the first thill ride, Shuttle Launch Experience, opened in May 2007 by the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. For those who wander what it is in the space, the thill ride is the best choise. The pneumatic seats, low frequency speaker, mechanical shakers, senation of weightless, view of the whole of Italy and so on make space "tourists" feel like in the space. The main purpose of the Shuttle Launch Experience is to connect with today's youth, raise the interest of youth and lure them into deeper study of science and math. After reading the article, I have a deep impulse to try the Shuttle Launch Experience and appreciate the breathtaking view in the space. THANKSGIVING IN AMERICAN MEMORY (彭蒙慧英語) 11/22
Today I read THANKSGIVING IN AMERICAN MEMORY (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/22. It is about how Thanksgiving become an official holiday. At the beginning, the first American president, George Washionton proclaimed November 26th to be a day of national thanksgiving and prayer in 1789 with the Congressional requst. However, Thanksgiving didn't become an annual tradition at this time. During the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in Novomber to be Thanksging Day. After the war, Thanksgiving finally become a national holiday, which continues to this day. After reading the article, I finally understand how Thanksgiving become a national holiday because in the past I could only read the introduction of customs of Thanksgiving. THANKSGIVING IN AMERICAN MEMORY 彭蒙慧英語) 11/21
Today I read THANKSGIVING IN AMERICAN MEMORY (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/21. It is about the introduction of source of Thanksgiving with proclamations which was issued in 1782 named "the October 1782 decree". With the recommendation of the Continental Congress, Thanksgiving was set aside Thursday, December 18 "for Solemn Thanksgiving and Praise" by George Washington, the commander-in-chief of the Continental forces. After reading the article, I can deeply feel how long the history of Thanksgiving is and how the American people respect Thanksgiving by issuing so many proclamations and setting the holiday of it. I have not have a real Thanksgiving yet, but I think it is great to have it by understanding it. FROM CYBERSPACE TO STOREFRONT (彭蒙慧英語) 11/20
Today I read FROM CYBERSPACE TO STOREFRONT (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/20. Setting up a brick-and-mortar is expensive. Rent, archiatects, interior designers, and so on all cost money. Moreover, merchants can set up shop online with merely a dozen items. That is why most people choose to open online shops. However, Chris VanDyke does not think so. He opened an outdoor apparel start-up,Nau Inc., so called "webfront" in Chicago. This boutique only carries enough merchandise to allow shoppers try on items and gauge the fit. The idea is to encourage shoppers to research and order Nau's products ditectly from the computer kiosks in the store. Just like consultant Lauren Freedman said "The bottom line is, the portability of a catalog won't go away and the tactile component of a store will always exist." After reading the article, I think thess online retailers are really smart. Though they open brick-and-mortar shops, their ultimately aim is to prompt the distribution. FROM CYBERSPACE TO STOREFRONT (彭蒙慧英語) 11/19
Today I read FROM CYBERSPACE TO STOREFRONT (彭蒙慧英語) on 11/19. It is about online retailers now beginning to open brick-and-mortar stores, establishing a physical place where shoper can touch the merchandise and talk to the sales clerks. The reasons why they do this are: observing and talking to shoppers, testing products and reaching new customers. Just like Reinier Evers of Trendwatcging.com said "We still live in a world that values the physical over the virtual." After reading the article, I felt great that though online stores are very convenient, they finally have to expand by opening stores we can walk into.
